Taking the Perfect Selfie

Taking the Perfect Selfie

The ‘Selfie’ is a perfect way to capture a special moment of yourself. People went crazy when this concept of capturing yourself at first came out. Here we’ll discuss some ways to take that perfect selfie.

1. Lighting is Everything: The most basic rule you need to follow while taking a selfie is to pay special attention to lighting. Natural light is the best lighting one can get and the most perfect selfies are always in natural light. Even without makeup natural light can give you that beautiful glow. Instead of using artificial lights try using natural light for the best results. Good lighting can make shadows and dark circles disappear. It is always advised to find a window while shooting a selfie inside because it will help in getting sharp and clear photos. Even though natural light is very important for perfect selfies, it can cast shadows over your face. This is why you don’t want the lighting too harsh.

2. Know When to Use Flash: While taking selfies you need to know when to use the flash since it may not give you the best results. Sometimes you are in the mood for taking a selfie but unfortunately, you don’t have access to natural light. You might be sitting on the couch at night wanting to capture the moment. In the dark flash is the best option to get the best selfies and if your phone doesn’t have a flash then you don’t have to worry because Snapchat has got you covered. Snapchat offers a flash for you to take selfies even in the dark.

3. Play to Your Angles:

It is always advised to keep your chin down and camera up. Taking a shot from under the chin level is never good. While taking selfies always keep your phone’s bottom at your eye level. Not staring straight into the camera is also advised because most people do not look their best while looking straight into the camera. Turn your face to the right or left a little bit for the best results.

4. Make sure your background isn't distracting: It is always suggested to clear your background before clicking a selfie, especially in a public area because the background can be distracting for the viewers.

5. Don't Over-Edit: Don’t edit your selfie to the point that it starts looking unnatural. Use a really light touch while editing. It’s easy to get carried away. Only touch the parts that are obvious to you. Avoid using the filters at their max capacity. Filters at their max capacity make the selfie unnatural.
